The Drug Metabolism
team plays a pivotal role in the characterization of novel drug candidates
in order to evaluate the effect the body has on these molecules. The
group is truly multidisciplinary, comprising chemists, biochemists,
pharmacologists and in vivo scientists.
Main functions
|
|
providing discovery
support, working closely with chemists and biologists to help design
and optimize molecules with suitable pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic
and metabolic properties |
| |
|
| |
evaluating
compounds pharmacokinetically in preclinical species to study their
absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) |
| |
|
| |
in vitro
assays designed to limit the use of animals and allow properties
such as metabolic stability, routes of metabolism, enzyme induction
and enzyme inhibition to be predicted in humans |
| |
|
| |
bioanalysis
- the analysis of drugs in biofluids, for which HPLC - tandem mass
spectrometry is extensively employed, and allows for the development
of extremely sensitive and selective assays |
| |
|
| |
with specialists
in in vitro drug metabolism, assay automation, robotics and
metabolite structure elucidation, we are at the forefront of current
drug metabolism technology and thinking |
